My work is primarily an attempt at the visualization of my experience with the whole of art. I have long been using the figure in an expressionistic manner as my principal subject matter but recently I have sought to use the traditional language of western art in the context of the post-modern world. By using “classical “ motifs and stories I find the work achieves a separation from mundane reality and touches upon a more archetypal resonance. These motifs create a vague expectation in the viewer that can be utilized as a starting point to a more complex reaction.

The classic struggle in art of form and content is one of my major concerns and I have sought for myself a kind of balance between the two. I have been working primarily in oil, employing traditional, realistic techniques and subject matter but tempered with experimental flourishes and mediums as well as a modern philosophical approach.
